Festival filmed and streamed LIVE from Victoria Park London

Using a satellite van and a few umbrellas we managed to see off the rain and stream live from the middle of Victoria Park. To capture as much of the event as possible we used three GoPro Hero time-lapse cameras and 3 HD webcams situated in and around the heart of the event village.

The webcams were available to watch 24/7 on a website we’d created and branded especially, login was free and all three
cameras had sound so viewers could really soak up the atmosphere.

Pay to View Streaming now offered by WaveFX

Event organisers have been asking for “Pay to View” streaming more and more this year and we knew we wanted to find the right supplier with a robust platform that could handle the ticketing

We read countless websites, trialled demos and spoke to a number of suppliers but ultimately the two suppliers that stood out were DaCast and StreamingVideoProvider.
This is just our personal opinion and based on our needs - the supplier we’re happy to be working with is Deyan and his team at StreamingVideoProvider

Why StreamingVideoProvider:

1. The website was a little clunky but ultimately intuitive and easy to setup an account

2. The PPV aspect is superb, integrates easily with PayPal

3. They take no commission on PPV and the streaming costs are extremely competitive

4. The streaming quality is superb and Deyan insures me it will only get better

Both companies offered very fast customer support which we hadn’t expected but now realise is paramount in the nail biting world of live streaming

Organisers of events, conferences and festivals now have the option to charge viewers a fee to watch a live or pre-recorded event reaching wider audiences whilst generating revenue

YouTube vs LiveStream, UStream and the world

YouTube vs LiveStream, UStream and the world...

YouTube are now offering free live streaming to accounts which have over 100 subscribers, surely free HD live streaming for all is just round the corner?

I’ve seen a demo of YouTube HD streaming and it’s very impressive, you can even stream privately and for extra security embed the stream behind a login firewall.

The big news here is what the other streaming players do next to compete, currently LiveStream are charging approx £400 for 3000 hours of private live streaming and 5000 hours will cost you £750 with Ustream

I’ve no insider knowledge but its possible YouTube may charge when their service is fully rolled out, it’s a massive commitment and will take considerable server and bandwidth to keep HD streaming Live for 150 million account holders.

If it is free and it’s looking likely – LiveStream, Ustream and the other streaming providers probably need a plan B
